Social Media Marketing Manager:
Fuzen Entertainment + Northern Bass
Fuzen Entertainment is on the hunt for a Social Media Marketing Manager to lead the digital voice of our brands — including New Zealand's iconic New Year's festival, Northern Bass, and a growing portfolio of national shows and touring acts. If you live and breathe music culture, understand how to build hype, sell tickets, and grow communities online — this role is for you.
About Us
Fuzen Entertainment is one of Aotearoa's leading independent promoters, delivering some of the country's most respected electronic and bass music events. Our flagship festival, Northern Bass, has become a cornerstone of the New Zealand festival calendar, complemented by a year-round programme of club shows, tours, and large-scale events across the country.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the social and digital marketing strategy across Fuzen Entertainment and Northern Bass. This role goes well beyond posting content — you'll be responsible for driving growth, engagement, ticket sales, and brand equity across all platforms. You'll work closely with promoters, designers, content creators, and media buyers to deliver campaigns that cut through in a competitive digital landscape.
Role Structure & Hours
This is a contract / freelance position, best suited to a freelancer or agency rather than a full-time role. The time commitment varies depending on campaign periods:
- Average: approximately 8–10 hours per week covering planning, posting, content coordination, and general social media management
- Busier periods: can increase to around 15 hours per week during key show campaigns
- Northern Bass campaign period: November through early January is the busiest window and can reach up to 20 hours per week
Due to the nature of live events, the role also requires someone who can be reasonably responsive and flexible, as last-minute show updates or announcements can occasionally require quick turnarounds. Outside of major campaign periods, workload is generally steady and manageable, with some weeks lighter than others across the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the social media strategy across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and others)
- Plan and execute campaign rollouts for festival and show announcements
- Manage organic social strategy alongside paid media campaigns
- Drive engagement through active community management
- Build digital funnels that convert attention into ticket sales
- Track campaign performance and optimise based on analytics
- Help grow and manage our EDM/email database strategy
You'll Thrive If You:
- Have 3+ years experience in social media or digital marketing (music/events experience highly regarded)
- Understand how to market live events and create urgency
- Know how to build hype around artist announcements and lineup drops
- Have a working understanding of Meta Ads and TikTok Ads
- Are comfortable analysing data and tracking conversions
- Are highly organised and able to manage multiple campaigns at once
- Bring ideas and initiative, not just execution
Bonus points if you:
- Have worked in festivals, nightlife, or touring
- Understand youth and music culture in New Zealand
- Can shoot or edit short-form video content
- Have basic graphic design skills
